
Ugandan Dancehall Pioneer Master Parrot Dies in Tragic Road Accident
KAMPALA, Uganda — Veteran Ugandan musician David Sifayo, widely known as Master Parrot, has died following a fatal road accident on the Northern Bypass in the Masanafu/Busega area of Kampala.
According to multiple reports and eyewitness accounts circulating on social media and Ugandan news platforms, the artist was struck by a speeding motorcycle while reportedly conducting a driving lesson. He died at the scene, and his body was later taken to Mulago Hospital Mortuary.
A Legacy in Ugandan Music
Master Parrot rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s as a key figure in Uganda’s dancehall and ragga scene. He was a prominent member of Bobi Wine’s early Fire Base Crew, contributing to the vibrant energy of the era’s music. His hit songs, including “Muliro” and “Kikompola” (Ekikompola), became anthems that captured themes of love, hustle, and everyday life, resonating deeply with fans across the country.
Beyond his musical contributions, Master Parrot was known for his charismatic personality and stage presence. He had faced personal challenges in recent years, including struggles with alcohol addiction, but had expressed hopes of a musical comeback.
