Hollywood Star Tyrese Gibson Touches Down in Uganda to Champion Coffee and Tourism
American actor and R&B singer Tyrese Gibson has arrived in Uganda for a three-day visit to promote the country’s coffee industry and tourism potential .
Known for his role as Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious franchise, Gibson landed at Entebbe International Airport where he was received by Uganda Tourism Board CEO Juliana Kagwa and Talent Africa Group CEO Aly Allibhai . His itinerary includes visiting the Source of the Nile, touring coffee farms, and planting a coffee tree in western Uganda . A highlight will be headlining the Coffee Concert at the Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo on October 3 .
Gibson’s visit launches the “Explore Uganda Coffee Tourism” campaign, a joint initiative involving the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Africa Coffee Park . This initiative seeks to position Uganda not only as a coffee exporter but also as a destination where tourists can experience the entire coffee value chain, from farm to cup .
President Yoweri Museveni welcomed Gibson, discussing the creative arts, tourism, and the shared heritage between Africa and African Americans . However, the visit has not been without some online debate regarding its economic value, as well as behind-the-scenes reports of political tensions over the project’s planning and public branding .
