KAMPALA – The highly publicized divorce proceedings between Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleone and his wife, Daniella Atim, will not see a resolution until later next year. The case has been adjourned until September 2025 as the couple continues to negotiate the terms of their separation.
According to reports from the Family Division of the High Court, the two parties have yet to reach a consensus on critical issues, including the division of their marital property, arrangements for child custody, and ongoing financial support.
Daniella Atim, who officially filed for divorce in March of this year, is reportedly seeking full ownership of the couple’s family home in Seguku. She is also requesting guaranteed continuous financial support for the upbringing and education of their children.
In her initial petition, Daniella cited years of emotional distress, claiming she suffered from “emotional abandonment, neglect, and a lack of support” throughout the marriage. She has been open about her personal struggles, revealing that she battled depression during this period. She alleged that Chameleone was largely absent for the past five years, leaving her to single-handedly raise their children.
While initially quiet on the matter, Jose Chameleone is now understood to have accepted the reality of the separation. In his responses, the singer has consistently framed his position around the well-being of the couple’s children. He has asserted that the assets under discussion are not for the personal benefit of either parent but are intended to secure the future of their children.
With the case now scheduled for September 2025, both parties and their legal teams have over a year to finalize what promises to be a complex and closely watched settlement agreement.
