NEBBI/ZOMBO, Uganda – President Yoweri Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the 2026 general elections, has taken his campaign trail to the West Nile sub-region, with mega rallies scheduled for Nebbi and Zombo districts today.
According to a post from the official NRM party X account, the President is set to address his first rally at midday at Namrwodho Primary School in Nebbi, followed by a second rally in the afternoon at Zombo Upper Primary School in Zombo.
The campaign events are a continuation of his tour launched in Pakwach on October 8th. During his stops, President Museveni is expected to amplify the government’s key wealth creation programs. His message is set to focus on central initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM), agricultural value addition, and cattle restocking, all aimed at boosting household incomes and driving local economic development.
The President’s campaign in the region also underscores broader themes of political unity and the consolidation of national peace. In previous rallies, he has highlighted the NRM government’s record on progress in education, health, and critical infrastructure projects, such as the Kole-Gulu-Nebbi-Arua power line, which is pivotal for the region’s development.
The West Nile tour is part of the NRM’s strategy to “protect the gains” of the current administration as the country moves toward the 2026 polls.
