KAMPALA – A prominent Ugandan TikToker, known online as “Chicken Chicken,” is embroiled in a major scandal following the circulation of explicit videos that have sparked widespread condemnation and a call for police intervention.
The controversy began when videos allegedly featuring the influencer, whose real name is Anthony Katongole, were shared online. The content, described as sexually explicit and purportedly showing intimate acts with another man, has ignited a firestorm on social media.
The situation escalated when Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi, a well-known figure in youth and children’s affairs, publicly denounced the videos. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Barugahara stated, “Enough is enough. The videos circulating from a man known as ‘Chicken Chicken’ are unacceptable and damaging to our community.”
He called on the Uganda Police Force (@PoliceUg) to “investigate, take lawful action, and ensure the person receives appropriate assessment and rehabilitation if needed.” Barugahara emphasized that “protecting public morality and community wellbeing is non-negotiable,” a sentiment that has been echoed by many online.
According to reports from local news desks, one of the videos shows Katongole in a compromising position while apparently speaking on the phone. Another video is said to depict him engaged in a sexual act with an unidentified man. The setup included a ring light and a smartphone, leading to speculation that the videos were recorded for a third party.
There is growing public speculation about the source of the influencer’s lavish lifestyle, with unverified claims suggesting the videos were commissioned by overseas sponsors for financial gain.
In response to the scandal, Anthony “Chicken Chicken” Katongole has vehemently denied the videos are real. He claims the clips are deepfakes generated by “haters” intent on ruining his reputation. He has allegedly identified individuals involved in the smear campaign, naming a one Shafic and others from the Kyanja suburb of Kampala.
The incident has left his followers and the wider public questioning the reality behind his popular online persona. As the debate rages online, the call for an official police investigation adds a significant legal dimension to the controversy, placing the influencer at the center of a national discussion on morality, digital content, and the law.
