VP Bol Mel Inaugurates Horizon Business Centre, Hails Project as a Model for Economic Growth
JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN – October 20, 2025 – In a significant step towards economic diversification, the Horizon Business Centre was officially inaugurated in Juba on Monday, with Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel presiding over the ceremony on behalf of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The event, held on October 20, 2025, brought together a high-level gathering of the nation’s leadership, underscoring the project’s strategic importance.
Vice President Bol Mel, standing in for the President, commended the initiative as a historic accomplishment for the country’s defence community. He stated that the centre is poised to be a catalyst for business growth, job creation, and the overall strengthening of South Sudan’s economy.
“This project represents a forward-thinking approach to national development,” the Vice President said. He extended congratulations to President Kiir and the leadership of the defence fraternity for bringing the vision to life.
In a powerful call to action, Dr. Bol Mel urged all government ministers and heads of public institutions to emulate this model. He challenged them to look beyond the constraints of traditional budgetary allocations and proactively develop similar income-generating projects.
“This is how South Sudan will rise into a nation of abundance, productivity, and prosperity for all South Sudanese,” the Vice President declared, framing the centre as a blueprint for the nation’s economic future.
The inauguration was graced by a host of distinguished leaders, signalling broad governmental support. Notable attendees included Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk, Senior Presidential Advisor; Gen. Chol Thon Balok, Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs; and Gen. Dr. Paul Nang Majok, Chief of Defence Forces.
Also present were Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Rabbi Mujung, Governor of Central Equatoria State; Lt. Gen. Bona Panek Biar Chol, Managing Director of the SSPDF Pension Fund; and Mr. Isaiah Kuot Kuol Malith, Managing Director of Horizon Bank.
The Horizon Business Centre is expected to serve as a modern hub for commercial activity, providing a platform for businesses to thrive and contribute to the nation’s journey toward economic self-reliance and prosperity.
