Ugandan Social Media Influencers Fall Out After Arrest Betrayal Allegations
KAMPALA — A public rift has erupted among popular Ugandan social media personalities Kasuku, Frank Ntambi, and Kaweesi Shalom, with Shalom accusing the other two of being “fake friends” following his recent arrest and imprisonment in Luzira.
The conflict stems from incidents surrounding Shalom’s detention, during which he says he reached out to Kasuku for assistance but received what he perceived as inadequate support.
Alleged Abandonment During Legal Trouble
According to Shalom, after he was arrested, he immediately contacted Kasuku—hoping his influential friend could leverage government or security contacts to intervene before he was taken to court. However, Shalom claims Kasuku replied that he was busy and would come later, only arriving at the court when Shalom was already being paraded, unable to offer any meaningful help.
The situation worsened as Shalom was remanded to Luzira Prison. He alleges that Frank Ntambi asked to use his personal car, citing mechanical issues with his own vehicle. Shalom refused and instructed his wife to drive the car instead—a decision that reportedly angered Ntambi.
Final Straw from Behind Bars
While in prison, Shalom says he encountered further disappointment upon seeing a video in which Kasuku reportedly stated he would not return to court if Shalom was not granted bail. The combined experiences left Shalom feeling betrayed and depressed during his time behind bars.
“The reactions of the people I thought were my friends left me shocked,” Shalom stated, explaining that their conduct during his crisis revealed their true characters.
End of an Influencer Friendship
As a result, Shalom has announced he is cutting ties with both Kasuku and Ntambi, declaring that he can no longer associate with individuals he considers disloyal during difficult times.
The fallout highlights the often-public nature of influencer relationships and the tensions that can arise when personal loyalty is tested. Neither Kasuku nor Ntambi has yet issued a public response to Shalom’s allegations.
The trio, previously known for collaborations and public camaraderie, now appear to be divided, with fans and followers closely watching how the dispute unfolds on social media and beyond.
