Mugabi John Socrates: A Lifetime of Service Prepares a Leader for Entebbe Division B
For the voters of Entebbe Division B, the question on the ballot is not just about who will lead, but who has been leading. In Mugabi John Socrates, the community finds a candidate whose entire adult life has been a blueprint for the role of Chairperson LC3. His story is not one of sudden political ambition, but of consistent, grassroots dedication.
My journey with Mugabi began in 2014 at Kyambogo University, where his leadership qualities were already evident. He was a connector, a mobilizer, and his vision earned him the Guild Presidency with our support. That student leader has evolved, over a decade, into the community pillar we see today.
Who is Mugabi John Socrates?
He is, at his core, a builder—not just of structures, but of people, institutions, and opportunities. A Libertarian and an objectivist, Mugabi believes in empowering individuals as the surest path to community prosperity.
His record speaks through action:
· The Community Mobilizer: He founded the Youth Development Link in Entebbe, focusing on youth empowerment. Understanding that true development is inclusive, he also started “Positive Debt,” an organization dedicated to skilling and economically empowering women.
· The Job Creator & Advocate: As the founder of ALED (a platform where I am proud to work), he has managed impactful projects like the education initiative on land and property rights. ALED has created tangible jobs and opportunities for Entebbe’s youth and has been at the forefront of training and advocating for vendors’ rights.
· The Inspirational Mentor: His leadership has sparked a ripple effect, inspiring other young leaders like Imran Kigongo to launch development initiatives such as the Africa Ethical Organisation.
· The Education Champion: Mugabi’s commitment to future generations is unwavering. From supporting students at all levels to founding the Lugonjo Education Fund, he has consistently invested in knowledge as the ultimate tool against poverty.
· The Business Revitalizer: His practical leadership extends to the economic sphere. He restarted the National Chamber of Commerce in Entebbe through the innovative Entebbe Business Summit, an event designed to reinvigorate the local business climate.
From his university days standing for students’ rights to his current multi-faceted community work, Mugabi John Socrates has been the “link against poverty.” He has built this legacy not from an official office, but from the conviction in his heart.
Now, he seeks the formal mandate as Chairperson LC3 of Entebbe Division B. This is not a change of path, but a continuation and amplification of his lifelong mission.
