Masaka Businessman, Family Members Die in Horrific Entebbe Expressway Crash
ENTEBBE, UGANDA – A early morning commute turned to tragedy on Monday after a prominent Masaka businessman and two members of his family lost their lives in a severe road accident along the Entebbe Expressway.
The crash occurred at around 6:30 a.m. at the Impala Interchange, involving a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number UBG 734S.
According to Michael Kananura, the spokesperson for the traffic police, the vehicle was being driven by Ssenyonjo Bosco, a businessman and resident of Masaka. He was travelling with his family towards the Entebbe side of the highway when the incident happened.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to speeding. “The vehicle first rammed into the base of a streetlight pole before crashing into a road pillar and overturning several times,” Mr. Kananura explained in a statement on social media.
The impact was devastating. “As a result of the crash, three occupants, including the driver, died instantly, while two others sustained severe injuries,” Mr. Kananura confirmed.
Traffic police officers quickly responded to the scene to manage the situation and evacuate the injured. The survivors were rushed to Grade B Hospital for initial first aid before being referred to another medical facility for further specialized management.
Authorities have extended their heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and relatives of the deceased. They have also wished a speedy and full recovery to those injured in the crash.
In the wake of the fatal incident, police have issued a renewed plea to all motorists using the expressway. They are urging drivers to strictly observe speed limits, remain highly alert while behind the wheel, and always maintain full control of their vehicles to prevent such tragedies.
