Khaby Lame Named Ambassador for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games
DAKAR, Senegal – Senegalese social media sensation Khaby Lame has been appointed an official ambassador for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, organizers announced on Saturday.
The 24-year-old TikTok star, known for his wordless comedic sketches, will play a prominent role in the lead-up to the historic event. With over 160.5 million followers on TikTok, Lame is one of the most recognized digital creators in the world.
Organizers confirmed that Lame will participate in key moments of the Games, including the Torch Relay, which is scheduled to arrive in Dakar on September 12, 2026. He will also help promote the Games to young audiences globally and support inclusive participation efforts, particularly in Mbacke, the central Senegalese town where he was born.
In a statement, Lame expressed his enthusiasm for the role, saying he wants to support young African talent and showcase the continent’s strength through the first Olympic event ever held in Africa.
The Youth Olympic Games will take place from October 31 to November 13, 2026, across three Senegalese venues: Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly. Approximately 2,700 athletes aged 17 and under are expected to compete.
The appointment marks a strategic move by organizers to leverage Lame’s massive youth appeal in order to boost engagement and highlight Africa’s growing influence in global sports.
