Hon. Shyaka Stephen Boosts Entebbe Fly Express Association with UGX 3 Million SACCO Donation
ENTEBBE, Uganda – In a show of support for grassroots economic empowerment, Hon. Shyaka Stephen today visited the Entebbe Fly Express Association, where he commended members for their exceptional hard work, discipline, and unwavering commitment to improving their livelihoods.
The visit highlighted the Association’s remarkable progress under the NRM principle of saving, collaboration, and collective investment in valuable assets for the benefit of SACCO members. Hon. Shyaka was particularly impressed to learn that through their well-organized SACCO, members have so far acquired 47 land titles—a clear testament to what discipline, unity, and proper financial management can achieve.
“Little by little, a little becomes a lot,” Hon. Shyaka remarked, emphasizing that through unity, patience, and disciplined saving, families and communities can build lasting prosperity.
Moved by this demonstration of teamwork and organization, Hon. Shyaka pledged and donated UGX 3,000,000 to the Association’s SACCO as encouragement for their discipline and a show of confidence in their continued growth. He noted that such achievements do not happen by chance—they are the fruit of members who trust one another, save consistently, and pull in the same direction.
A Call for Unity and Empowerment
Hon. Shyaka expressed gratitude to the members for their continued support of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the NRM Government, and all NRM flag bearers. He urged them to remain firmly rooted in the core NRM principles of patriotism, peace, unity, democracy, and socio-economic transformation.
He called for greater unity across the various associations and groups within the taxi fraternity, reminding them that “a bundle of sticks cannot easily be broken.” When operators, drivers, conductors, and leaders stand together, they can overcome any challenge and unlock greater opportunities for all.
Empowering Women in the Transport Sector
In a progressive call to action, Hon. Shyaka encouraged Fly Express to deliberately create space for more women as drivers, conductors, and leaders within the Association—noting that empowering women with jobs strengthens families, protects children, and builds a more productive community.
Strengthening Partnerships with Local Leadership
Hon. Shyaka urged the Association to work hand in hand with LC leaders, municipal authorities, security agencies, and other government structures, emphasizing that development thrives when leaders and communities listen to one another and move forward in the same direction.
He extended special thanks to His Worship the Mayor, Fabrice Brad Rulinda, along with Chairman Kenneth and Chairman Lukyamuzi, for their continued support and contribution to the growth of the Entebbe Fly Express Association.
A Shared Responsibility for Peace and Security
In closing, Hon. Shyaka called on all members to continue rallying behind the NRM Government, reminding them that peace and security begin with each individual. Every driver, conductor, and passenger carries a shared responsibility to uphold discipline, respect, road safety, and harmony.
“Together, we shall continue building a peaceful, united, and prosperous Entebbe. When we move together, no journey is too long,” he concluded.
The visit underscored the importance of grassroots savings initiatives and collective action in driving Uganda’s socio-economic transformation agenda.
