China-Uganda Reception Marks 77th PRC Anniversary, Welcomes New Ambassador Wu Guangrong
Kampala, Uganda — The Chinese Embassy in Uganda last evening hosted a grand reception at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event also served as a formal welcome for the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Wu Guangrong, who presided over the diplomatic gathering.
Speaker of Parliament Jacob Markson Oboth attended the event as the guest of honour. The reception brought together several dignitaries, including State Minister Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of the Chinese business community in Uganda.
Speaking at the event, Minister Mukalazi expressed optimism for growth in trade, investment, manufacturing, and value addition. Her remarks echoed recent talks between the two nations regarding agricultural parks and export opportunities under China’s zero-tariff policies.
The reception highlighted the deepening China-Uganda Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, following a series of high-level engagements and bilateral agreements between the two countries.
