Tooro Kingdom Gifts Omusuuga Luxurious Land Cruiser Ahead of Coronation
Kampala, Uganda – In a grand gesture ahead of an upcoming coronation, subjects of Uganda’s Tooro Kingdom have presented their Omusuuga, Charles Kamurasi, with a brand-new white Toyota Land Cruiser TX valued at 180 million shillings. The luxury vehicle comes complete with the personalized license plate “MUSUUGA 001.”
According to a summary of posts on X, the gift honors Kamurasi’s leadership of the Babiito royal clan through the succession process following the reported death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV in August. The period has been marked by rival claims over the throne.
Amid these tensions, the kingdom is reportedly working to bridge divisions rooted in lineage and traditions. High-profile support has been extended to the new leadership, with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba contributing 100 million shillings and publicly endorsing Prince Edward Rukidi Kijangamoma’s coronation, which is scheduled for September 29.
Gen. Kainerugaba confirmed his contribution in a post on X, stating: “Today my Military Assistant, Colonel Muwumba, delivered 100 million shillings on my behalf to the Omusuuga of Tooro. This is our humble contribution to the coronation of the new king. God bless Tooro.”
