Qatar Condemns Israeli Settlement Plans, Calls for International Action
Doha, August 14, 2025 – The State of Qatar has issued a strong condemnation of Israeli Finance Minister’s approval of new settlement plans that would sever East Jerusalem from the occupied West Bank. In an official statement, Qatar denounced the move as a flagrant violation of international law, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which unequivocally opposes Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized its outright rejection of Israel’s settlement expansion policies, labeling them as deliberate attempts to undermine the prospect of a viable Palestinian state. The Ministry called on the international community to take immediate action to pressure Israel into halting its settlement activities and adhering to international resolutions.
Reaffirming its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, Qatar reiterated its commitment to a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state. The statement underscored Qatar’s solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged global leaders to unite in holding Israel accountable for its actions, warning that continued settlement expansion threatens regional stability and the prospects for lasting peace.
