Nairobi – President William Ruto has lauded the Harambee Stars for their remarkable performance at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN), praising the team for surpassing expectations and uniting the nation through football.

At the start of the tournament, few expected Kenya to progress beyond the group stages, having been drawn into what was dubbed the “Group of Death.” However, the Stars defied the odds, overcoming some of the continent’s football giants to secure a place in the knockout stages.
“By overcoming football giants of the continent, our boys have shown the world what it truly means to believe in ourselves,” President Ruto said in his congratulatory message. “They have proven that Kenya is an ambitious nation, destined for greatness, if only we embrace faith, courage, focus, and hard work.”
The Head of State commended the team for inspiring joy and pride across the country, urging them to carry their winning spirit into the next stages of the competition.
“Congratulations, Harambee Stars! You have done the nation proud, inspired immense joy, and united our country in celebration. Now, march forward and conquer the continent. Do not settle for less — just as we, as a nation, must never settle for anything less than glory,” he added.
Closing his message on a personal note, President Ruto quipped: “As for me — nitacheza kama mimi. After all, dawa ya deni ni kulipa.”
