KAMPALA – Senior Presidential Advisor on Defense and Security, Lt. Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso, has criticized opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine, accusing him of constantly running to Western donors for sympathy instead of championing his political struggles from within Uganda.
Speaking in a recent interview, the veteran UPDF officer stressed that true leadership requires standing firm with citizens at home rather than relying on foreign support.
“My son Bobi Wine should lead the country from here,” Gen. Nalweyiso said. “Let him not run to America to report; instead, let him remain and lead from here while raising those issues. Leadership means standing with Ugandans, not crying to whites who have no powers to change a government in Kampala.”
Her remarks come amid ongoing criticism of Bobi Wine’s frequent travels abroad, where he has often engaged international organizations, governments, and rights groups about Uganda’s political and human rights situation.
Gen. Nalweyiso’s comments have sparked debate, with some Ugandans agreeing that local leadership should be rooted in domestic action, while others argue that international advocacy is a legitimate strategy in today’s interconnected political landscape.
