KAMPALA – The Security Manager of the upscale Mei-Lin International Hotel and three other employees have been remanded to Luzira Prison on charges of aiding and abetting the escape of a wanted robbery suspect, Kennedy Nsubuga.

Nsubuga, who remains at large, is the central figure in a high-profile investigation into the robbery of Presidential Advisor Jennifer Nakangubi, widely known by her moniker “Full Figure.”
The case, which has captivated the public due to its connections to a presidential advisor and a minister’s family, took a dramatic turn this week with the arrest of the hotel staff.
The charges stem from a recent police operation. A team of investigators, led by the Deputy Commander of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), conducted a raid on the Mei-Lin Hotel located on Macknon Road in Nakasero. The operation was launched to apprehend Nsubuga and his wife, Justine Namere, who is reportedly the daughter of a sitting government minister.
Upon arrival, police were informed that Namere had driven away from the premises shortly before their arrival. Hotel staff present at the time claimed they had not seen the couple, a statement authorities now allege was a deliberate lie to obstruct the investigation.
Sources indicate that the four arrested individuals, including the Security Manager, are accused of providing false information to the police and facilitating Nsubuga’s escape from the hotel, preventing his capture.
The wanted suspect, Kennedy Nsubuga, is alleged to have robbed unspecified valuable items from Nakangubi. The case gained national attention a few weeks ago when a viral social media video showed Nakangubi being assaulted by a group of unidentified individuals in Kampala. Police reports later confirmed that the assailants fled the scene in a vehicle registered to Nsubuga.
The incarceration of the hotel staff signals an intensification of the manhunt and suggests investigators believe the couple had been sheltering at the establishment. The case continues to develop as police work to locate and arrest Kennedy Nsubuga and Justine Namere.
