LONDON – US President Donald Trump touched down in the United Kingdom on Tuesday for his second state visit, a trip marked by a dual narrative of major economic investment and significant public dissent.
The visit, hosted by King Charles III and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, features a full schedule of royal pomp and high-level bilateral discussions. President Trump is expected to engage in formal engagements at Windsor Castle and the Prime Minister’s country residence, Chequers, with talks focused on strengthening ties in trade, technology, and security.
A major announcement overshadowing the diplomatic ceremonies came from the US tech sector. Industry giants Microsoft and Nvidia unveiled pledges totaling up to $67 billion for investments in the UK. The funds are earmarked for building advanced artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centers, a move projected to create thousands of jobs and significantly boost the British economy.
