OCTOBER 13 – World Athletics has unveiled the shortlist for its highly anticipated 2025 Track Athlete of the Year awards, highlighting a stellar group of athletes who have excelled through world records, Olympic victories, and championship successes this season.
The women’s category features a formidable lineup, headlined by Kenyan stars Beatrice Chebet and Faith Kipyegon. They are joined by American sprint sensation Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, her compatriot Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, and Dutch hurdling standout Femke Bol.
On the men’s side, the nominees are led by American athletes Noah Lyles, Rai Benjamin, and Cordell Tinch. They will compete for the title against Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi and France’s Jimmy Gressier.
The winner will be determined through a combination of public input and an expert panel. The public voting period is now open and will run until October 19. Fans can cast their votes by reposting the official nomination announcements on the World Athletics X account (formerly Twitter).
The final winners are expected to be announced following the conclusion of the voting process.
