RSCE Mourns Fallen Peacekeepers Following Attack on UNISFA Base in Kadugli
The Regional Service Centre in Entebbe (RSCE) has expressed profound sorrow following a deadly attack on the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) logistics base in Kadugli.
The attack resulted in the tragic death of six peacekeepers from the Bangladeshi contingent. Several other personnel were injured in the incident.
In a statement released today, the RSCE conveyed its deepest condolences to the families of the fallen peacekeepers, as well as to the Government and people of Bangladesh. The Centre also extended wishes for a swift and full recovery to all those injured.
The fallen personnel were part of the UN’s ‘Blue Helmet’ mission in Abyei, a region contested between Sudan and South Sudan. UNISFA’s mandate is to monitor the border and protect civilians.
The RSCE, which provides critical administrative and logistical support to peacekeeping missions across Africa, underscored the sacrifices made by uniformed personnel in the pursuit of peace. The statement reaffirmed the commitment to supporting peacekeeping operations despite the inherent dangers.
