
Former Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua Injured, Two Killed in Nigerian Highway Crash

OGUN STATE, Nigeria – World-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious traffic accident on Monday along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in two fatalities and leaving the former heavyweight champion with minor injuries.

The collision occurred near the Makun/Sagamu area around 11 a.m. when the Lexus SUV in Joshua’s convoy slammed into a stationary truck. Preliminary reports from local authorities and road safety officials suggest possible causes including excessive speed, wrongful overtaking, or a burst tire. An investigation is ongoing.

Tragically, two fellow passengers in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Joshua and another man sustained injuries and received initial medical attention. The boxer’s injuries are described as minor.
Authorities have not yet released an official comprehensive statement as they continue to examine the circumstances of the crash. The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is one of Nigeria’s most critical and often congested transport routes, known for frequent accidents.
