
Nigeria Sets February 20, 2027, for Next Presidential Election
ABUJA — Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the country’s next presidential election will be held on February 20, 2027.
Professor Joash Amupitan, Chairman of INEC, made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday. According to the electoral body, National Assembly elections will take place on the same day as the presidential vote.
The commission also revealed that governorship and state assembly elections are scheduled for March 6, 2027.
Africa’s most populous nation holds general elections every four years. Professor Amupitan assured that preparations are already underway to ensure a smooth electoral process.
Nigeria’s upcoming election cycle will see voters elect a president, members of the National Assembly, governors, and state assembly representatives across the country’s 36 states.
