Muhoozi Orders Immediate Temperature Checks, Border Closure Over Ebola; Apologizes to Museveni Over Mwenda Comments

KAMPALA, Uganda – General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, has issued a series of dramatic directives and statements via his official social media platform, including an immediate crackdown on border crossings and public health measures.

In a post published to his 13.9K followers, Gen. Muhoozi announced that security forces have been directed to completely seal Uganda’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with immediate effect. The decision comes in direct response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the neighboring DRC.

“No movement of people between the two countries is permitted,” Muhoozi wrote, adding a stark warning to those who might attempt to defy the order. “Trying to breach this order will endanger your life.”

He assured the public that updates on the evolving situation would be provided. The announcement has generated significant engagement, with over 33,000 interactions reported.

In a separate but related directive, the General called for an immediate health screening protocol for all individuals entering the country. He ordered that all people crossing into Uganda “MUST have their temperatures taken,” tagging the Ministry of Health and the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (Uganda CAA) to ensure swift implementation.

Apology to the President

In a dramatic shift from security and health matters, Gen. Muhoozi also issued a formal apology to his father, H.E. the President of Uganda, over recent comments made by prominent journalist and PLU member Andrew Mwenda.

Describing Mwenda’s words as “embarrassing, uncharacteristic and wrong,” the General expressed deep regret on behalf of the PLU.

“We are going to subject our member to a disciplinary process,” Muhoozi stated, while reaffirming the strength of the political alliance between the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the PLU. “The NRM/PLU alliance is strong.”
