Gen Muhoozi’s Birthday Run Raises Over Sh1 Billion for Charity
Kampala, Uganda – The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced that his annual birthday run held on Sunday, April 26, raised more than one billion Ugandan shillings in support of charitable causes.
In a post shared on his official X account, Gen Muhoozi expressed gratitude to the thousands of supporters who turned up for the event and contributed to the fundraiser. The run, which drew large crowds from across the country, saw active participation from individuals, companies, and community groups, many of whom made financial contributions to the initiative.
“Thank you to everyone who joined and donated,” the General wrote, acknowledging the overwhelming public response.
While the specific beneficiary organisations have not yet been named, Gen Muhoozi confirmed that details will be released in the coming days. He added that plans are underway to officially hand over the funds to the selected recipients.
The annual birthday run has become a popular fixture on Uganda’s charity calendar, drawing attention to social causes and mobilising resources for vulnerable communities. This year’s event, held on a Sunday, recorded a significant turnout and exceeded previous fundraising targets, according to early estimates.
Further announcements regarding the handover ceremony and the distribution of funds are expected shortly.
