

KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu District have arrested a private security guard accused of murdering a prominent businessman, sending shockwaves through the community.
The suspect, identified as Byaruhanga Hillary, 28, a guard attached to Don World Security Limited, allegedly shot and killed Anthony Mutinisa, 53, the proprietor of Mutinisa Motors Uganda, on Sunday evening.
According to police, Byaruhanga fled the scene immediately after the incident, driving away with the victim’s vehicle, registration number UA 769 BQ. The car was later recovered in Katwe Cell, Kihihi Town Council during police operations.
Police further revealed that Byaruhanga was arrested in possession of the vehicle alongside Akampa Mark, who has also been taken into custody for questioning regarding his role in the incident.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the brutal killing and whether the two suspects were acting alone or in connection with a wider criminal network.
Kanungu District police have assured residents that justice will be pursued and called on the public to remain calm as inquiries continue.
