KAMPALA – Two stars from the very first season of the groundbreaking reality TV show, Big Brother Africa, have launched a mission to reunite the entire cast nearly two decades after the show ended.

Ugandan media personality Gaetano Kaggwa, the inaugural season’s charismatic housemate, has teamed up with his former on-screen love interest, South Africa’s Abby Plaatjes, to track down and reconnect with their fellow contestants from the 2003 season.

The pair, whose romance was a central storyline of the show, admit that despite promises to stay connected after the finale, life got in the way.
“When we were in the house, we became very close to each other. When the show ended, we promised to stick together and stay in touch, but life happens. People drift apart, settling into their new lives,” Gaetano revealed. He noted that there was only one housemate he consistently kept in touch with over the years.
The idea for the reunion was born from a recent conversation between Gaetano and Abby. Realizing how much time had passed, they decided to take action.
“I was recently chatting with Abby, and we realised we needed to catch up with everybody. We decided to form a WhatsApp group and try to reconnect with all the housemates. We managed to find some of them,” Gaetano said.
Their digital detective work has already proven successful. The newly created WhatsApp group now includes several familiar names from the historic season, including:
· Abby Plaatjes (South Africa)
· Alex Holi (Kenya)
· Cherise Makubale (Zambia)
· Mwisho Mwampamba (Tanzania)
· Sammi Bampoe (Ghana)
But Gaetano’s ambition doesn’t stop at a group chat. He has vowed to find the remaining housemates with the goal of organizing a major physical get-together. He also hinted at potential media tours to celebrate their shared history and the lasting impact of the show that brought them together.
This heartwarming initiative has sparked excitement among fans of the original season, who are eager to see the iconic housemates reunite and reminisce about the “good old days” that kicked off a continental television phenomenon.
