KAMPALA – In a decisive move underscoring its stance against malpractice, Airtel Uganda Limited has publicly terminated and disowned one of its former IT experts, Mr. Mabingo Juma, citing gross misconduct and fraudulent activities.
The announcement was made through a stark public notice featuring Mr. Juma’s photograph. The notice explicitly states that his employment was terminated due to “gross misconduct and violation of the company’s code of conduct.” The dismissal comes amidst growing customer complaints about losing data and money on the telecom network.
Effective immediately, Mabingo Juma is no longer authorized to represent or transact any business on behalf of Airtel Uganda. The company issued a stern warning to the public, declaring that anyone who chooses to deal with him does so entirely at their own risk. Airtel will not “honor or accept liability for any transaction with him henceforth.”
This action highlights the telecom giant’s efforts to reassure its customers of its commitment to integrity. The public notice reaffirms Airtel’s “zero-tolerance policy against fraud and misconduct” and its dedication to “upholding the highest standard of integrity and ethical business conduct.”
The company’s message is clear: it is committed to service delivery and will not hesitate to “do away with anyone that uses their brand for personal gain.” This public shaming is a rare but powerful step intended to protect both the company’s reputation and its customers from potential scams orchestrated by a former employee familiar with its operations.
Airtel Uganda Limited, a subsidiary of Airtel Africa plc, is regulated by the Uganda Communications Commission. Customers with concerns are advised to contact the company directly through its official channels.
