Washington, D.C., August 2, 2025 — The United States has announced an additional $52 million in lifesaving food assistance aimed at reaching 1.9 million people across four countries grappling with severe humanitarian crises: the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Haiti, and Djibouti.
The aid package, delivered under the leadership of President Donald Trump, reaffirms America’s role as the world’s largest provider of food and humanitarian assistance. The funds will be used to provide emergency food supplies, nutritional support, and logistics needed to reach vulnerable populations facing conflict, climate shocks, and economic instability.
“This assistance reflects the enduring commitment of the American people to support communities in urgent need around the world,” a U.S. government spokesperson said. “These targeted interventions will help save lives and restore hope in regions battling hunger and insecurity.”
In the DRC and Ethiopia, the funding will support internally displaced families affected by ongoing conflict and food shortages. In Haiti, where recent unrest and natural disasters have deepened the humanitarian crisis, the aid will provide vital relief to communities in dire need. Djibouti, facing chronic food insecurity exacerbated by regional instability, will also benefit from the emergency package.
The latest announcement follows continued efforts by the U.S. to lead global humanitarian responses, including strategic partnerships with international aid agencies and local organizations to ensure the aid reaches those most in need.
