
Kampala, Uganda – August 1, 2025 – The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released provisional registration figures for the 2025 national examinations, revealing a significant rise in candidature compared to the previous year.
Key Highlights:
- Total Candidates Registered: 1,416,307 (up from 1,319,139 in 2024).
- Overall Increase: 6.9% (97,168 more candidates than last year).
- Breakdown by Level:
- Primary Leaving Examination (PLE): 817,998 candidates (2.51% increase).
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE): 431,856 candidates (12.07% increase).
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE): 166,464 candidates (14.69% increase).

UNEB’s Directive to Schools
In compliance with the UNEB Act Cap 259 Section 4(2), schools must display the register of candidates at least 60 days before examinations begin. This allows candidates and stakeholders to verify registration details and biodata accuracy.
