UPDF Appoints New Leadership at National Referral Hospital in Mbuya
Mbuya, Uganda – August 4, 2025 — The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has officially unveiled the new leadership team for its National Referral Hospital located in Mbuya. In a ceremony held this week, Col Ronald Nangamba was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the facility, while Col Dr John Lusiba was named Deputy CEO.
The appointments mark a strategic step in strengthening the management and operational efficiency of the UPDF’s premier medical institution. The hospital, which serves both military personnel and civilians, plays a key role in delivering specialized medical care, supporting national emergency response, and enhancing the overall health system capacity of the force.
Col Nangamba brings a wealth of leadership and administrative experience, while Col Dr Lusiba is renowned for his expertise in military medicine and healthcare management.
The UPDF emphasized its commitment to professionalizing medical services within its ranks, and the new leadership is expected to steer the hospital toward further advancements in service delivery, training, and research.
The ceremony was attended by senior UPDF officials and representatives from the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs.
