
Entebbe Police Investigate Tragic Suicide of Young Mother Following Dispute Over SACCO Savings
ENTEBBE, Uganda – The Kampala Metropolitan Police are actively investigating a suspected suicide by stabbing involving a 22-year-old housewife in Kitoro, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District. The incident, which occurred late Saturday night, has left the community in shock.
Police have identified the deceased as Nakigudde Carol. According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Kawala Racheal, the tragedy unfolded around 11:00 PM at the couple’s home following a heated dispute over money from a local savings group (SACCO).
“It is alleged the money was delivered through the husband but he did not give it to the wife,” stated Spokesperson Kawala.
Reports indicate that Nakigudde Carol quarreled with her husband, Husama Mukiibi, demanding her share of UGX 450,000, claiming it was her turn to receive the funds from the group. During the altercation, she allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed herself in the neck.
Police further noted that the husband, Husama Mukiibi, reportedly made several efforts to stop her before rushing her to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries at 1:00 AM on May 17, 2026.
“We are still conducting thorough investigations into the matter,” Kawala Racheal confirmed.
In light of the incident, Police have taken the opportunity to urge victims of domestic violence to seek help. Spokesperson Kawala encouraged individuals facing similar circumstances to utilize the services of the Police’s Child and Family Protection Unit to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
