Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Overhauls Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Leadership
Kampala, Uganda — Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces and Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), has announced significant changes to the organization’s Central Committee and key leadership positions as part of efforts to refresh the group and tackle new challenges ahead of future political cycles.
Retained Central Committee Members
In a series of posts on X, Gen. Kainerugaba stated he is retaining several key figures on the PLU Central Committee:
· Michael Nuwagira (National Vice Chairman)
· Edwin Karugire
· Hon. Michael Mawanda
· Andrew Mwenda
He noted that the rest of the committee membership will be announced soon. These retainees have held prominent roles such as national vice chairman, legal director, mobilization lead, and communications chief.
New General Secretary Appointment
Gen. Kainerugaba appointed Hon. Fadil Twalla as the new General Secretary of PLU, replacing Hon. Kabanda after three years of service. He praised Kabanda for setting a high standard and instructed the National Vice Chairman, Mr. Michael Nuwagira, to organize a handover/takeover ceremony as soon as possible. All PLU Ministers and Members of Parliament were directed to attend.
