Kenyan Activists Vanish in Uganda Amid Bobi Wine Campaign Support
KAMPALA, Uganda – Two Kenyan activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, have been missing since October 1, 2025, after they were reportedly abducted from a petrol station in the Ugandan capital, Kampala. The two men were in the country to show support for Ugandan opposition leader and presidential candidate Bobi Wine.
According to eyewitness accounts, the pair were seized by a group of armed men who forced them into unmarked vehicles. The incident has sparked international concern and drawn sharp criticism from human rights organizations.
Despite the testimony, Ugandan authorities have officially denied any involvement in the disappearance. They maintain that there are no official records of Njagi and Oyoo being in custody.
In a significant legal development on October 22, Uganda’s High Court dismissed a habeas corpus petition filed to compel the government to produce the two men. The court’s decision effectively reclassified the activists as missing persons, a move that has frustrated their families and supporters.
The families of the missing Kenyans, alongside regional human rights groups, are demanding answers and accountability. The case has amplified fears about the safety of political activists in the region and has led to a series of protests and petitions calling for a transparent investigation into their whereabouts.
The disappearance of Njagi and Oyoo continues to cast a shadow over the political landscape, highlighting ongoing tensions and raising serious questions about state power and human rights.
