President Museveni Attends Granddaughter Sasii’s Traditional Kuhingira Ceremony

KAMPALA, Uganda — President Yoweri Museveni was among the guests at the traditional Kuhingira ceremony for his granddaughter, Sasii, the daughter of fashion designer Natasha Museveni Karugire and lawyer Edwin Karugire.

The vibrant event, held outdoors on Saturday, celebrated Banyankole customs as Sasii was formally handed over to the son of Lieutenant General Sam Kavuma, uniting two prominent Ugandan families

The ceremony featured decorations in pink and purple blooms, with family members sharing warm embraces during official photographs. President Museveni used the occasion to call for a revival of one-day wedding traditions, emphasizing efficiency and cultural continuity.

Adding a contemporary touch, Nigerian music star Mr Eazi made a surprise appearance at the traditional event. The celebration has drawn online praise for its blend of elegance, heritage, and multi-generational joy.
