Don Chris Faces 350 Fraud Charges in Massive Job Scam Case
Kampala, Uganda — Socialite and businessman Christian Asiimwe, commonly known as Don Chris, is facing a staggering 350 counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, following an amendment by the State to the charge sheet.
The updated charges were presented at the City Hall Magistrates’ Court in Kampala, where the State added seven new files, each containing 50 counts. The charges stem from allegations that Asiimwe defrauded victims through his company, Sky Pins Tours and Travel.
According to court proceedings, Asiimwe allegedly promised victims external job placements abroad, specifically in Canada and other countries, for roles such as waiters and caregivers. He reportedly collected fees ranging from Shs3.5 million to Shs10 million per victim. The total claimed losses now exceed UGX 2 billion, with more than 655 complainants coming forward.
During the hearing, Asiimwe pleaded not guilty to all 350 charges. It was also noted in court that his firm, Sky Pins Tours and Travel, lacked the necessary license for external recruitment. He remains remanded as the case continues to grow.
More than 30 individuals who allege they were defrauded are attending the proceedings at the City Hall Magistrates’ Court.
