President Museveni Arrives in Nairobi for Official Visit, Signs Bilateral Agreements with President Ruto

Nairobi, Kenya – July 30, 2025
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda arrived in Nairobi this morning for an official visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations between Uganda and Kenya. The visit underscores the longstanding partnership and shared vision between the two East African nations.
Upon arrival, President Museveni was warmly received by his host, H.E. President William Ruto of Kenya. The two leaders later held high-level bilateral talks focused on enhancing regional cooperation, boosting economic integration, and addressing mutual development priorities.
In his remarks, President Museveni emphasized the urgent need for Africa to leverage its vast natural resources and streamline its economic systems to foster sustainable development.
“My two key points today were that we must leverage Africa’s abundant resources and effectively rationalise our economies,” said President Museveni. “The key to Africa’s prosperity lies in increasing the production of goods and services, but we must also consider the market for these products. Therefore, we should prioritise market access and consumer engagement to unlock East Africa’s economic potential.”
The Ugandan Head of State stressed that unity and collaboration among African nations are essential to achieving a prosperous and self-reliant continent.
The visit culminated in the signing of several bilateral agreements between Uganda and Kenya, covering key areas such as trade, infrastructure, energy, and regional security.
“I would like to express my gratitude to President Ruto for the warm welcome today,” President Museveni noted. “I am pleased with the bilateral agreements that were signed, as they will strengthen the partnership between our countries.”
The agreements are expected to play a significant role in advancing shared regional goals and fostering long-term economic growth in East Africa.
