Lwemiyaga County Member of Parliament, Theodore Ssekikubo, has officially resigned from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), marking the end of his often rocky relationship with the party.
The outspoken legislator announced his decision after consultations with his supporters, revealing that he felt betrayed by the NRM leadership following the dismissal of his petition.
“I no longer feel represented by the NRM,” Ssekikubo said, accusing the party of consistently sidelining him. “They have always pushed me to the edge as though I am not a member. This betrayal and cupidity cannot be tolerated any longer.”
Ssekikubo, known for his controversial and confrontational political style, has frequently clashed with the NRM hierarchy over party positions and governance issues. His departure is expected to stir debate within both the party and opposition ranks, given his reputation as one of the more independent-minded legislators in Parliament.
It remains unclear whether he will join another political formation or choose to remain independent.
