ENTEBBE, UGANDA – The Entebbe community is in mourning following the sudden passing of Cornelius Lorika Kodet, the esteemed senior resident and proprietor of the iconic Aero Beach.
News of his death began circulating on Monday morning, sending waves of sadness through the lakeside town. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
Kodet was a visionary figure in Uganda’s leisure and tourism sector. He is fondly remembered for transforming the beach experience in Entebbe by introducing unique attractions, most notably grounded aeroplanes. His creative vision extended to installing sculptures of renowned regional and world leaders.
A particularly memorable installation featured President Yoweri Museveni alongside the Queen of England and First Lady Janet Museveni, created to mark the Queen’s visit to Uganda for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in 2007.
Aero Beach, under Kodet’s stewardship, became more than just a beach; it evolved into a distinctive cultural and recreational landmark, drawing both locals and tourists.
The late entrepreneur’s legacy is cemented in the unique atmosphere and innovative spirit he brought to the shores of Lake Victoria.
