Entertainment and Media Hosts Association Launched to Unite Uganda’s Presenters

KAMPALA — In a significant move for Uganda’s creative sector, prominent media personalities officially launched the Entertainment and Media Hosts Association (EMHA) during a well-attended event at Kyambogo on Friday.
The association, spearheaded by top hosts including MC Kats, Miles Rwamiti, and Dagy Nyce, aims to organize radio and television presenters under a unified body, advocate for better working conditions, and secure government support and funding similar to other recognized creative industries.
Following the launch, the EMHA delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) at Kyambogo Headquarters. They engaged with ONC Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, who also serves as the association’s newly appointed patron.
During the meeting, the media hosts presented key challenges facing the industry and proposals for government backing to foster growth. Hajjat Namyalo pledged to forward their concerns to President Yoweri Museveni, highlighting the sector’s potential.
“The engagement highlighted unity, professionalism, and the future of Uganda’s media industry,” stated a post from the ONC on X, using the hashtag #ProtectingTheGains.
The formation of EMHA has been met with both celebration and skepticism. Supporters hail it as a necessary step toward professionalizing the industry and empowering hosts. However, some observers question whether the drive is purely for professionalism or also motivated by the pursuit of government funds.
Despite the debate, the launch marks a pivotal effort to give media presenters a collective voice and structured access to opportunities within Uganda’s rapidly evolving creative landscape.
