ENTEBBE, Uganda – In a significant move to elevate Uganda’s profile as a premier tourist destination, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and the national carrier, Uganda Airlines, have held a high-level strategic meeting to solidify a collaborative partnership.

The meeting, led by UTB Chief Executive Officer, Juliana Kagwa, and Uganda Airlines CEO, Ms. Jennifer Bamuturaki, was focused on aligning joint efforts to increase tourist arrivals, enhance Uganda’s brand visibility globally, and improve the overall travel experience for visitors flying into the country.
Discussions centered on creating a unified strategy to promote “Destination Uganda” across regional and international markets. Both parties recognized the symbiotic relationship between a robust national airline and a dynamic tourism sector, affirming their commitment to a synergistic approach.
“This collaboration is a game-changer for Ugandan tourism,” said a UTB representative. “By working hand-in-hand with our national carrier, we can ensure that from the moment a traveler considers Uganda, through their flight and into their experience on the ground, the message of our beautiful country is consistent and compelling.”
Key areas of collaboration explored during the meeting include:
· Co-branded Marketing Campaigns: Joint initiatives to showcase Uganda’s unique attractions—from gorilla trekking and wildlife safaris to its vibrant culture—in key source markets.
· In-flight Destination Content: Curating engaging content, including videos, magazines, and announcements, to immerse passengers in the Ugandan experience from the moment they board.
· Media Partnerships: Collaborating on familiarization trips for international journalists and travel influencers to generate positive media coverage and buzz.
· Unified Destination Branding: Ensuring a consistent and powerful brand message for Uganda across all touchpoints, from UTB’s international advertising to Uganda Airlines’ platforms.
This partnership signals a renewed and coordinated push to position Uganda competitively in the global tourism market. The joint efforts are expected to significantly contribute to the growth of tourism, a vital sector for the country’s economy.
