NIŠ, SERBIA – In a significant move to bolster its economic and trade ties with Europe, Uganda has officially inaugurated its fourth Uganda Connect Hub, located in the city of Niš, Serbia.
The new hub, launched with great anticipation, is designed to serve as a central gateway for Serbian and regional businesses and consumers seeking to engage with Ugandan products, culture, and investment opportunities. It represents a strategic effort by Uganda to expand its global market presence and diversify its international partnerships.
Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), Odrek Rwabwogo, hailed the opening as a major milestone. He extended his gratitude to key partners who made the venture possible, specifically thanking Slovakia’s Trade Envoy to Serbia, StOb Bratislav, for their instrumental role.
In his remarks, Chairman Rwabwogo described the new facility as a “go-to centre for anything Ugandan,” highlighting its function as a one-stop-shop for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. The hub will showcase a wide array of Ugandan goods, notably its premium coffee, cocoa, fruits, spices, and handicrafts, providing a tangible platform for exporters to connect with the Balkan market.
The establishment of the Niš hub follows the successful model of previous Uganda Connect Hubs, which aim to demystify and promote Ugandan exports abroad. By planting its flag in Serbia, Uganda is not only gaining access to the Serbian market but is also positioning itself as a key trade partner for the entire Southeastern European region.
This expansion is seen as a direct result of Uganda’s proactive economic diplomacy, seeking to create new avenues for growth and solidify its position on the global trade map.
