
Uganda Airlines Signs $982 Million Boeing Deal for 10 New Aircraft
Entebbe, Uganda – June 10, 2026 – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today witnessed the signing of a landmark agreement between Uganda Airlines and Boeing for the acquisition of 10 new passenger and cargo aircraft valued at Shs3.7 trillion (approximately $982 million). The deal, signed at State House Entebbe, marks a significant step in expanding the national carrier’s fleet and strengthening Uganda’s position as a key regional aviation hub.
Deal Details
The agreement covers a mix of passenger and cargo aircraft to boost trade, tourism, and investment in the country. According to reports, it includes:
· Eight Boeing passenger aircraft, each with a seating capacity of 294 passengers.
· Two cargo freighters: A Boeing 767 wide-body converted freighter and a Boeing 737 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF).
Officials highlighted the first four planes under the contract. This builds on previous government funding initiatives for Boeing Dreamliners, freighters, and Airbus jets.
The expansion is expected to enhance Uganda’s aviation capacity, improve global connectivity, and position Entebbe International Airport as a competitive regional hub amid growing demand and competition from airlines like Ethiopian Airlines.
