
KAMPALA – The Uganda Police Force has announced it is investigating its officers after videos surfaced on social media allegedly showing them tearing campaign posters and damaging materials belonging to the National Unity Platform (NUP).
In a press release dated September 25, 2025, the police confirmed it had taken note of two separate incidents that occurred on Wednesday, September 24. The first incident took place in Mbale City, while the second happened in the Central Business District of Kampala City.
According to the statement, the footage shows an altercation occurring between police officers and NUP supporters, which led to the dispersal of the supporters. “During this process, some campaign materials were damaged,” the police acknowledged.
“The Uganda Police Force has launched an investigation into these allegations, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry,” the statement concluded.
The press release, signed off from Police Headquarters in Kampala, underscores the force’s official awareness of the matter and its commitment to an internal review. The outcome of the investigation is now awaited by the public and political commentators.
