Aspiring MP Vows to Champion Diaspora Interests in Uganda’s Parliament

Entebbe, Wakiso District – Frederick Albert Mukungu, an aspirant for Member of Parliament for Entebbe Municipality, has directly addressed Ugandans living abroad, promising to prioritize and protect their social and economic ties to the homeland if elected.
In a campaign message titled “2025 Electoral Campaign,” Mukungu, who plans to run as an autonomous candidate in the 2026–2031 term, acknowledged the anxieties of the diaspora community regarding returning home or investing in Uganda.
“I truly understand your concerns and want you to know that I hear you clearly,” he stated. “I want to reassure you that things are going to change.”
The potential candidate argued that Uganda cannot fully benefit from its citizens abroad if their relationship with the country remains distant. To bridge this gap, he has pledged a concrete legislative action.
“When I assume office… I will champion and present a white paper to parliament and the sitting president to protect the social and economic ties and interests of diasporans,” Mukungu declared.
His message emphasizes recognition and security for those living abroad. “It is now time for you to be recognised even more; your investments and lives will be protected, allowing you to cherish the love of your country while making continuous and significant investments that will be highly safeguarded.”
Positioning the diaspora as essential partners in national development, Mukungu concluded with a call for collaboration: “Both the country and you are essential to its development, so let’s collaborate to propel Uganda forward.”
Mukungu identifies himself as having international experience, noting his role as Omukungu Wa Kabaka (a representative or envoy of the Kabaka) for the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. He is vying for a seat in Uganda’s 12th Parliament, representing the Entebbe Municipality constituency in Wakiso District.
