
Africa HealthTech Summit Opens in Kigali to Drive Digital Healthcare Transformation
KIGALI – The fourth Africa HealthTech Summit (AHTS2025) officially launched on October 13 in Rwanda’s capital, convening over 2,500 ministers, innovators, investors, and health leaders to advance digital healthcare solutions across the continent.
The three-day summit, held at the Kigali Convention Centre, is organized by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and partners. It was officially opened by Rwanda’s Health Minister, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, who underscored the critical need for policies that keep pace with technological innovation.
In his opening address, Minister Nsanzimana highlighted the role of digital solutions in disease detection, control, and healthcare service delivery. “He emphasized the importance of well-trained human capital, enabling policies, and strong collaboration to fully harness the potential of emerging technologies for improved health outcomes,” a post from the Ministry of Health stated.
The summit is held under the theme “Connected Care: Scaling Innovation Towards UHC,” focusing on how technology can accelerate progress toward Universal Health Coverage in Africa. Delegates, including Ministers of Health and ICT, tech innovators, and development partners, will explore the application of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data sharing to build more resilient and equitable health systems.
The event aims to foster partnerships and strategies to revolutionize healthcare delivery and improve well-being across the continent.
