Heavy Rains Flood Entebbe Road, Stranding Kampala Motorists
Kampala, Uganda — Torrential downpours hit Kampala on Thursday morning, causing severe flash flooding that submerged major roads and left numerous motorists stranded.
The flooding heavily impacted key spots along Entebbe Road, specifically near Bata Bata, Zana, and Lubowa. Eyewitness videos from the scene showed submerged motorcycles, vans struggling to push through brown floodwaters, and pedestrians wading through the rising water to navigate the streets.
Traffic alerts issued by NTV Uganda and New Vision highlighted the plight of stranded drivers across the city. In response, traffic officers were deployed to guide vehicles through the flooded streets, particularly in areas like Kinawataka.
The recurring nature of the flooding has sparked frustration among local residents. One resident noted that the area has experienced “forty years of the same problems,” calling for the government to implement better drainage systems. The disruptions caused by the floods severely impacted traffic flow and business operations across Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono.
