OFFICE OF RETIRED PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA ISSUES WARNING OVER FAKE SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
NAIROBI – The Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, has issued a strong statement condemning the proliferation of false information being circulated online in his name.
In an official communication signed by Secretary of Communication, Kanze Dena Mararo, the office expressed “concern” over what it described as the “deliberate circulation of false and misleading content on social media platforms.” The statement categorically disowned such posts, clarifying that they are “unauthorized” and “do not in any way present the views or position” of the retired President.
To combat the spread of these falsehoods, the office directed the public to its established and verified channels for any authentic information. “Any official communication from the retired President or his office will only be disseminated through our established and verified channels: Office of the 4th President or the official Jubilee Party verified platforms,” the statement read.
Emphasizing a commitment to keeping the public reliably informed, the office pledged to share accurate information “promptly and in a timely manner.”
The communication also carried a direct advisory to citizens, urging them to “exercise vigilance, verify information before sharing, and avoid amplifying falsehoods that erode public trust.” It underscored the importance of preserving “the dignity of the Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya.”
Concluding on a note of reassurance, the office reaffirmed its “commitment to transparency, integrity, and respect in all our engagements.”
This advisory comes amid a heightened climate of political discourse in the country and serves as a reminder for the public to critically assess the source of information attributed to high-profile figures before sharing it online.
