
South Sudan’s Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel Heads to UAE on Diplomatic Mission
Juba, August 12, 2025 — South Sudan’s Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel departed Juba this afternoon for an official visit to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The high-level delegation is tasked with delivering a special message from H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The message will be conveyed through His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE.
Accompanied by senior government officials from key institutions, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel—who also serves as Chairperson of South Sudan’s Economic Cluster—will engage with UAE leaders to strengthen bilateral relations, explore new avenues of cooperation, and advance economic opportunities aimed at improving livelihoods in South Sudan.
In his departure remarks, Dr. Mel emphasized President Kiir’s unwavering commitment to fostering strong alliances with nations that share South Sudan’s vision for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
“These strategic partnerships are crucial for attracting investment, creating jobs, and driving economic growth,” he stated. “Through such collaborations, we are laying the groundwork for a brighter future, ensuring that the promise of a better South Sudan becomes a reality for all our citizens.”
