Ugandan Political Figures Rally at PLU Secretariat to Endorse Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for 2031 Presidency
Kampala, Uganda — A growing wave of political endorsements is sweeping through the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), as several prominent leaders and government officials gather at the PLU Secretariat in Naguru to officially back Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031 presidency.
The momentum gained significant traction on September 22, when State Minister for Local Government and Masaka City Woman MP, Justine Nameere Nsubuga, publicly endorsed the Chief of Defence Forces. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nameere shared her enthusiasm: “For God and My Country Get ’em General @mkainerugaba No turning back! Tusimbudde!”
Her endorsement follows a recent apology regarding a circulated video clip she described as “maliciously edited.” According to a news summary, Nameere used her visit to the PLU headquarters to reaffirm her longstanding partnership with Gen. Kainerugaba. The event was highlighted by Hon. Mwesigye Frank, who noted that Nameere delivered “honest and interesting views” shortly after signing the endorsement book.
The campaign continued to build on the same day, with Hon. Lenis Charity announcing her support. “Today, I join millions of patriots in signing the Patriotic League of Uganda endorsement book for Gen @mkainerugaba as the next president,” Charity posted. She expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended by the PLU leadership and her appreciation for being part of the journey.
By September 24, the movement had expanded to include former Minister of Defence, Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja. PLU General Secretary Twalla Fadil confirmed the visit via social media, stating: “Former Minister of Defence Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja this afternoon visited us at the PLU Secretariat to endorse Gen @mkainerugaba for President 2031. The spirits are high.”
The growing list of endorsements at the Naguru secretariat has not gone unnoticed. PLU General Secretary Twalla Fadil has welcomed the momentum, with other leaders, including Minister Lillian Aber and Pallisa District officials, reportedly joining the campaign of signatures across various regions ahead of the elections.
Political observers online, such as X user Julio (@arihojulio), noted the significance of these alignments. Commenting on Nameere’s endorsement after her apology, Julio wrote: “BREAKING NEWS!! Nameere after apologizing to MK, she’s today met with GS PLU and accepted to endorse GEN MK as the next president of Uganda. I now know who the most powerful person in this country is.”
As the 2031 election cycle approaches, the PLU Secretariat continues to serve as a central hub for political leaders looking to align themselves with Gen. Kainerugaba’s anticipated presidential bid.
