ROME, October 13, 2025 – The World Food Forum 2025 commenced today at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), launching a weeklong gathering aimed at transforming the world’s agrifood systems.
The event brings together a diverse coalition of youth leaders, scientists, policymakers, and investors under the banner of the #4Betters initiative: better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all.
In his opening address, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu called for collective and decisive action to end global hunger and build more resilient food systems. He emphasized the critical role of empowering youth and integrating indigenous knowledge to drive sustainable solutions. The forum is particularly significant as it coincides with the 80th-anniversary celebrations of the FAO.
The Director-General set an optimistic tone for the week, stating on social media, “It’s inspiring to see @FAO come alive with so many passionate people, youth, indigenous peoples & partners. I’m hopeful of a week filled with ideas, collaboration & shared purpose.”
The agenda for the week features sessions focused on innovation and investments in agriculture. The forum will culminate on October 16th, World Food Day, with the announcement of new global commitments to address food security and sustainability.
